We have set up a GoFundMe for Dino's veterinary expenses.
Hi everyone,
Dino continues to do well, but I think he is feeling a little sore and tired these last couple of days. He is feeling better overall, so I think he is pushing himself a little too hard, and then getting tuckered out. We're doing our best to keep a calm environment for him, and not overdo it. We've also really noticed how the drugs affect him these last few days - I think before his body was so focused on healing and resting, it was hard for us to see the effect of the drugs on his personality. He was just sleeping so much. Now that he's a bit more himself, we really can see the difference between when the drugs are at their peak and just before he gets another dose.
I checked in with the surgery team this morning and sent them a picture of Dino's stump (below). They said everything looks great, and removing the stitches should be quick and easy. I also spoke with oncology and they said the doctor would reach out tomorrow to discuss the biopsy results. We are tentatively booked in for the same day as the stitch removal for Dino's first chemotherapy treatment. He will also need an ultrasound of his heart that day, as the first chemo medication he is getting can be hard on dogs' hearts, especially for larger breeds. Our regular vet has told me in the past that Dino has a strong heart, so I am not too worried about this. I expect things to go well.
That's all for now. Stay tuned for how the stitch removal and first round of chemo go.
